You will serve as a Marine Machinery Mechanic in the PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The location for this position is Garden Island, Australia ***See Additional Information section below for details***
What you will do
- You will disassemble and repair marine equipment and machinery including propulsion machinery, auxiliary engines, speed reduction and acceleration mechanisms.
- You will operate machine tools such as small lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and precision grinders to manufacture component parts or re-machine existing parts such as bushings, bearings, seals, couplings, and pistons.
- You will interpret and apply requirements in techincal documents, manuals, blueprints and shop directives to determine critical dimensions and key reference points.
- You will disassemble, move and relocate various types of submarine and shipboard machinery such as turbines, generators, diesel engines, and their accessories or install new machinery.
- You will make templates, jigs, and other fixtures required for repair or installation utilizing knowledge of materials and their versatility.
- You will independently diagnose, plan and complete projects or work orders involving major systems.
