What you will do

  • This position is located in the Reentry Services Division (RSD).
  • Performs organizational and data collection studies on projects relating to the assessment, skills development, and reentry of federal offenders.
  • Responsible for the quality control of generated statistical reports for BOP executive staff and outside agency review.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of automated systems designed specifically to establish efficient methods for information collection and distribution.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for all statistical information provided to both internal and external sources.
  • Provides interpretation of the data and technical assistance to CEO's, BOP executive staff, executive level staff outside the agency, and Congressional inquiries.
  • Independently determines the appropriated research and analysis criterial needed to retrieve the most accurate information for the request.

How you will be evaluated

You will be evaluated based on how well you meet the qualifications listed in this vacancy announcement. You will not be considered for the position if you score below the cut score or fail to complete the assessment. You will be evaluated based on your assessment score and the information provided in your resume and supporting documentation. Applicants who receive a score of 85 or higher will be reviewed first, and reviews will continue until 10 qualified applicants have been identified. Applicants who receive a score of 75 or below will not be reviewed.

NOTE: This vacancy announcement has been set to receive the first 50 applications. Therefore, on the day the 50th application is received, this announcement will close at 11:59 p.m., Eastern Standard Time. The representative rate for this position is $98,459 per annum ($47.18 per hour).

NOTE: Pay rates are based on Rest of the U.S. but could change depending on the location of the position. Special Conditions of Employment Section: Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation. All applicants are subject to National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and credit checks.

All applicants not currently working in an institution will be required to complete a qualification inquiry regarding convictions of misdemeanor crimes of domestic violence in order to be authorized to carry a firearm. Successful completion of the "Introduction to Correctional Techniques," three-week training course at Glynco, Georgia is required.

Current Federal Law Enforcement Employees: Completion of the mandatory courses "Introduction to Correctional Techniques (ICT) Phase I and Phase II" is a condition of employment for this secondary law enforcement position. Employees who have not yet completed ICT Phase I and II will be required to do so after entering the position.

This requirement does not apply to non-law-enforcement positions. Eligibility for secondary law enforcement coverage is determined in accordance with applicable regulations. Coverage may be attained through any qualifying federal law enforcement officer service that meets the definitions in 5 U.S.C.

8401(17) and satisfies the conditions in 5 CFR 842.803.
