About the role
First time hires to the federal government typically start at the beginning salary in the range for their respective grade level. WG-07: $25.24 (Step 1) to $29.48 (Step 5) per hour - Central and Northern Maine (RUS) Wage Area This position is also open to candidates in the local commuting area under announcement CAHR-26-13075699-FUL-LLH.

What you will do

- Plans, sets up, and operates typical overhead rigging systems used in trail work to transport material.
- Career-Seasonal appointments are permanent positions and include the same benefits as permanent appointments, but do not provide work on a year-round basis.
- You will work for approximately 10 months, March through December, and you will be in a non-pay status for the remainder of the year.

Additional vacancies may be filled using this job announcement. Physical Demands: Heavy physical effort is required in bending, lifting, and using hand and power tools in trail work.
Examples of typical strenuous activity include: Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing over 100 pounds, must carry and roll rocks and logs, move rocks of several tons with rock bars, use hammers to crush or shape rock, and use shovel extensively. Frequently hikes up to 20 miles daily, and must be able to do so while carrying a backpack, power, and/or hand tools.
Working Conditions: Incumbent must have the ability to live and work effectively in backcountry areas in close contact with small numbers of people for extended periods of time. Incumbent must live and work out-of-doors on projects in various terrain up to 13,000 feet elevation in all extremes of adverse weather conditions.
Trail work is dusty, and hazardous conditions may exist when moving rocks and logs, working in and around rockslide areas, working around stock, working around explosives, falling and bucking trees, and working around machinery.
