About the role
We are looking for a dynamic and creative Licensed Practical Nurse with an excellent grasp of clinical practice who would work to support the Community Living Center Inter-discipline model of care. The LPN is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting.

- Provides teaching activities of daily living (ADL's) to patients and encourages them to participate in ADL's leading to increased independence.
- Provides or reinforces patient teaching related to medications, disease process, procedures, and self-care activities.
- Participates in more complex teaching for patient self-care, such as diabetic care, self-catheterization, etc. Supports a home-like environment in which Residents are offered choices and preferences are honored about activities of daily living including wake, sleep, and meal times, bath schedules, recreational activities, etc. Manages wounds, pain, clinical conditions, and provides emotional support to the CLC Residents and their families as needed.
- Knowledge and skill to sufficiently prepare, administer, and document actions specific to medication administration including oral, sublingual, subcutaneous, intravascular, and intramuscular routes.
- LPNs must possess strong clinical and astute observational skills, experience in geriatric population care, pain management experience, and the ability to provide extensive emotional support.
- Support family members with care and compassion during- the end-of-life process and assist with the necessary arrangements for the body after death.

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
