About the role
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, Directorate of Emergency Services. Hawaii is a beautiful state, but has a high cost of living.
Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year round including surfing, paddling, diving, fishing, and hiking.
What you will do
- You will make daily assignments to ensure that guard coverage is provided to assigned patrol areas.
- You will check on work in progress to ensure supervisor's instructions on work sequence procedures are met.

- You will grant access to persons, denies entry or arranges for escorts, as appropriate.
- You will inspect containers, personal property, documents on private, commercial and governmental vehicles, exercises tact, courtesy, and firmness in the performance of all force protection duties You will be responsible for performing and resolving a full range of both standard procedural and non-recurring/unusual visitor access assignments.
- You will provide authoritative guidance and information on security regulations and procedures, exercising sound judgment and discretion in response to telephone and in-person security inquiries.

Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Conditions of Employment continued: Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training. Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
Incumbent must undergo and pass annual medical exams of physical, emotional and mental stability. Standard for medical exams are prescribed in AR 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program".
Incumbent must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons. All weapons training and qualifications will be conducted IAW AR 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program".
