About the role

This position is located in Seasonal Staffing Office-Yosemite National Park and is responsible for the identification, research, planning, treatment, and preservation maintenance of cultural landscapes. Open to the first 50 applicants or until 09/21/2026 whichever comes first.All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.

What you will do

• Performs landscape architectural duties associated with review, design, treatment, and monitoring of cultural landscapes.
• Develops and maintains liaisons and effective working relations with related groups and individuals, agencies, and the public.
• Identifies research needs and suitable research designs and conducts or oversees various levels of documentary research and field investigation.
• Conducts on-site investigations of project sites to determine the feasibility of proposed projects.
• Conducts and coordinates cultural landscape research projects related to the identification, documentation, analysis and evaluation, and treatment.
• Prepares and maintains cultural landscape inventories, Prepares cultural landscape reports on existing conditions and defining treatment actions.
• Negotiates cooperative and interagency agreements and other cooperative instruments needed to effectively carry out resource stewardship goals.

Physical Demands: Work is mostly sedentary, with some walking at construction sites during field orientation, design and construction phases. Some projects can only be accessed by hiking or riding stock in mountainous terrain. May be required to drive over extended distances in inclement weather on mountainous roads using snow chains.

Requires the ability to operate a government vehicle. Because of project demands, considerable personal stress is ever-present. Working Conditions: Work is generally performed in an office setting, with occasional fieldwork involving moderate risks of construction operations.

Travel to project sites will be required, and may involve driving a vehicle, walking, or riding stock. Some projects are in undeveloped areas including mountain wilderness. Projects may occur during inclement weather such as rain, snow, or high temperatures and may occasionally be scheduled at night.

The duties of this position are suitable for telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
