About the role

About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Youth Center, Beale AFB, CA. You will be scheduled to work anywhere from 0-40 hours per week; hours are not guaranteed. This position does not receive benefits.

Moderately heavy physical effort is required in occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and in pushing heavy furniture, loading carts, etc. Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

What you will do

• Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies, etc., moves heavy boxes, cartons, or luggage by hand, hand truck, or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbars, and cuts bands using shears; stacks boxes and cartons where directed.
• Takes items to the recycle center, hazmat and other disposal sites.
• Performs groundskeeping tasks such as moving sand and dirt with a shovel, filling holes on playgrounds and sports fields, and weeding.
• Levels bumps and low spots using a shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
• Operates hand lawnmowers and domestic-type powered lawnmowers.
• Clears small trees and bushes using a handsaw, hatchet, or clippers.
• Removes pests and insects throughout the facility and grounds.
• Power washes exterior facilities and playground equipment.
• Assembles furniture, toys, and various pieces of equipment upon delivery.
• Moves and arranges furniture as directed to support program needs.
• Performs minor sanding and painting tasks to maintain the appearance of facilities.
• Changes light bulbs and assists with minor upkeep on appliances.
• Assists with minor preventative maintenance on vehicles.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.

You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.

Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.

A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
