About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as Senior Information Technology Specialist (Network/Customer Support) for IMD for Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory at Fort Meade, Maryland.

What you will do

• Manage the initiation, coordination, and documentation of plans for items such as software, hardware, documentation, and version releases.
• Monitor, evaluate, and maintain systems and procedures to safeguard Information Systems.
• Identify and track modifications required to enhance and maintain the installed hardware and software configuration of assigned tasks.
• Maintain and configure local servers to ensure they are updated and functioning to support the laboratory.
• Resolve problems and provide end user support relative to all aspects of Information Technology (IT) systems and perform customer service 'help desk' duties.
• Use established practices and techniques to plan and develop operational test plans and evaluation plans for systems that primarily impact local operation.
• Isolate the nature of network system failures and equipment problems, initiating corrective measures and possible resolutions.
• Provide assistance and guidance to users on technical aspects of network AD and office automation hardware and software requirements.

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.

You will be required to undergo background investigation leading to the successful adjudication of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.

Derogatory information developed during the background investigation, such as a criminal history, could render the selectee ineligible for both the security clearance and continued employment in the position, if already appointed. Recruitment and Relocation Incentives may be authorized. Relocation Incentive is not authorized.

Superior qualifications and special needs pay setting may be authorized at managements discretion for eligible candidates.
