Main duties

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as an experienced, Senior-skill-level IT Cybersecurity Specialist, a defensive cyberspace operations technical expert and Air Force Enterprise defense crew member conducting Enterprise-level operations in support of Service, USCYBERCOM, Combatant Command, AFCYBER and National Agency partners.

  • DUTY 3: Serves as an Air Force enterprise defense mission lead, functional expert, and/or team member at the Senior experience level conducting missions to detect and remove unauthorized, malicious, or adversary presence from operational systems, networks, or enclaves in order to ensure reliability and availability of mission critical capabilities.
  • DUTY 4: Serves as an Air Force enterprise defense mission lead, functional expert, and/or team member preparing mission documentation in accordance with DoD, Air Force, CYBERCOM, CCMD, AFCYBER, and local standards.

Education

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: - Compliance with Air Force training specified in the Training and Readiness Manual; and applicable higher headquarters guidance memoranda for Cyber-Crew Training, Standardization and Evaluation, and Cyberspace Operations, is a condition of employment.

The incumbent must achieve and maintain appropriate qualification requirements as specified and attain Mission Ready (MR) certification within 10 duty days after MQT. The Deputy Director may extend this period only in cases where the member is unable to achieve full Mission Readiness (MR) by the designated time through no fault of his/her own.

Delays due to an individual's course/ certification failures and an individual's failure to plan adequate time to meet all requirements cannot be waivered.

Failure to achieve and maintain MR requirements may result in removal from this position.

If an employee obtains MR but later loses his/her certification and is unable to regain certification, or the employee repeatedly regains and subsequently loses MR in less than three- years' time, the employee will be considered in violation of the MR condition of employment and will be removed from this position and/or processed for termination of employment - Current Mission Ready (MR) individuals, regardless of civilian series are considered qualified to serve under this PD as long as the member has met other conditions of employment and civilian grade requirements.

While there are variances in the technical duties of the Network Analyst, Host Analyst, and Cyber Threat Analyst, and other crew positions, they leverage their role-specific technical expertise/specialties to perform the same duties under this PD.

For positions assigned to the 33 NWS, the Network Analyst, Host Analyst and Cyber Threat Analyst crew position titles may vary in title, but are equivalent. This PD applies to all operational GG-13 regardless of Service or CCMD, unless specifically called out. - This position is designated as a key position IAW AFI 36-507.

The duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve.

  • OCONUS - Current or Former Federal Civilian Employees (includes current Air Force employees): You must submit a legible copy of a SF-50, Notification of Personnel Action.
  • The SF-50, block 24 must contain "1" or "2" and block 34 must be a"1".
  • Employees eligible under an OPM approved interchange agreement, block 34 may contain a "1" or "2".
  • NOTE: For OCONUS employees who claim eligibility MSP or Family Member Preference, your SF-50 may contain a "3" in block 24 and a "2" in block 34.
  • OPTIONAL DOCUMENTS: Performance Appraisals for Current Federal Civilian Employees - Most recent performance appraisals (dated within last 3 years) showing the official rating of record, signed by a supervisor, or statement why the performance appraisal is unavailable.
