About the Position: The Watervliet Arsenal is an Army-owned and-operated manufacturing center located in New York. It is the oldest, continuously active arsenal in the United States having begun operations in 1813.
What you will do
- Assess production requirements and use technical methods, measurements and models to determine ways to reduce waste, reduce costs, improve quality, and improve overall performance of manufacturing and information systems.
- Improve processes and initiate culture of continuous improvement and waste reduction.
- Review and apply established statistical methods and perform time studies and data analysis to create accurate estimates of standard labor hour requirements on our manufactured components.
- Prioritize and help resolve production issues.
- Recommend process changes that improve quality, productive yield, efficiency and safety in manufacturing operations.
- Keep abreast of the latest techniques in industrial engineering and manufacturing.
- Work in conjunction with all staff to pursue new opportunities for improvement through Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
- Develop and implement corrective action plan to reduce setup time, manufacturing lead time and process time of manufactured products.
