About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 81st Readiness Division, Area Maintenance Support Activity (AMSA) 127 located at Greenville, South Carolina.

What you will do

• Troubleshoot, repair, modify and maintain a variety of construction, industrial, combat, tactical and power generation equipment.
• Repair and replace components of the cooling, braking, exhaust, power train, or hydraulic systems on combat and tactical, automotive, and powered support equipment.
• Remove, adjust or replace defective or worn parts and components.
• Perform operational inspections and ensure vehicles are properly serviced and repaired.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks and services.
• Assist higher graded repairers in the performance of more complex repairs such as removing, repairing or replacing major components such as engines, transmissions, differentials, steering boxes, and fuel injection pumps.
• Operate motor vehicles to check work.

New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station. To be eligible to receive moving expenses, you must be a newly appointed Federal civilian employee or have a minimum of a 3-day break in service from previous Federal civilian employment.

Recruitment, retention, and/or relocation incentive, student loan repayment, advance in-hire rates, advanced leave accrual, and creditable service for leave accrual may be authorized when determined to be in the best interest of the government.
