About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a Military Technician position with the 81st Readiness Division, Area Maintenance Support Activity 52 located in Mobile, Alabama.

What you will do

  • Troubleshoot, repair, modify and maintain a variety of construction, industrial, combat, tactical and power generation equipment.
  • Remove and repair major systems or components of equipment to include power packs, transmissions, transfers, gear reduction units, injector pumps, air conditioners, fuel pumps and alternators.
  • Make idle speed, current, brake, and transmission linkage adjustments.
  • Perform initial and in-process inspections; perform mechanical diagnostics and troubleshoot to localize defects and determine cause of malfunction; perform mechanical maintenance on defective parts; and perform minor body work.
  • Provide technical assistance to unit personnel.
  • Operate motor vehicles to perform the duties of this position.

This is a Logistics Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary is based on the local prevailing rate.

Recruitment, retention, and/or relocation incentive, advance in-hire rates, advanced leave accrual, and creditable service for leave accrual may be authorized when determined to be in the best interest of the government. New Army Reserve Military Technicians may be authorized moving expenses to their first official duty station.

To be eligible to receive moving expenses, you must be a newly appointed Federal civilian employee or have a minimum of a 3-day break in service from previous Federal civilian employment. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
