Main duties

  • As a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC WG-5803-08/10, you will repair, adjust, overhaul, perform major repairs, and maintenance on military and commercial designed heavy mobile equipment and special purpose vehicles.
  • Perform initial and in-process inspections, minor body work, and conduct mechanical diagnostics to localize defects and determine causes of malfunction.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, including lubrication, adjustments, and minor part replacements, to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.
  • Inspect repairs, overhauls and tests major systems including gasoline, diesel, electric powered hybrid, multi-fuel, turbine, and other types of internal combustion engines, which may be turbo-charged or blower assisted, automatic or manual transmissions, including those with power take offs, cross-drive transmissions, hydraulic, electric, pneumatic systems and controls, fluid pumping systems, turrets, winches and four wheel steering systems.

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC, Position Description Number D2431000 and D2431000B and is part of the KS 190 Air Refueling Wing, National Guard.

What you will do

  • As a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC WG-5803-08/10, you will repair, adjust, overhaul, perform major repairs, and maintenance on military and commercial designed heavy mobile equipment and special purpose vehicles.
  • Perform initial and in-process inspections, minor body work, and conduct mechanical diagnostics to localize defects and determine causes of malfunction.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, including lubrication, adjustments, and minor part replacements, to extend equipment life and reduce downtime.

  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work Schedule: This position works on a 5/4/9 compressed work schedule that consists of a 5 day workweek, then a 4 day workweek ( 8 nine-hour days and 1 eight-hour day and an SDO, Scheduled Day Off) to complete the 80 hour pay period.
  • Work schedule is subject to change based on mission requirements.
  • Telework: ELIGIBLE FOR SITUATIONAL TELEWORK ONLY, INCLUDING EMERGENCY AND PRESCRIBED "UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK"
