About the role
The Health Technician (Telehealth Clinical) serves in a generalist role to support home telehealth operations for Veteran Health Indiana.
What you will do
- Supporting the home telehealth program by serving as the Telehealth Health Technician within scope of practice, functioning clinical support for home telehealth applications, managing program enrollment and disenrollment, providing established instructions for patients, and providing technical and administrative support to telehealth operations.
- Providing technical support to patients, scheduling simple and complex intra-facility appointments, remote installs/setup, troubleshooting technology, and performing a variety of program support duties as assigned.
- Preparing the clinical environment, which may include preparing medical and telecommunications equipment to be used for clinical examination and treatment; maintains clerical duties for telehealth department such as scheduling, insurance scanning, and travel compensation.

- Ensuring that patient privacy is protected by complying with all information security and patient privacy regulations.
- Screening patients for Telehealth modality and referring patients that do not meet established criteria to appropriate care.
- Maintains Home Telehealth Consults through Consult Tracking Manager.
- Communicating effectively with clinical and administrative staff at the assigned local site and those located at remote sites of care.
- Configuring, installing, troubleshooting, cleaning, and performing minor routine maintenance of assigned telehealth technology.
- Providing established education and training to Veterans on Home Telehealth equipment and completing appropriate documentation.
- Prepares patient education via approved materials such as enrollment packets.
- Orders Telehealth equipment and necessary peripherals through ROES ordering system.
- Enrollment of patients into Telehealth program through vendor databases.
- Assists with equipment setup and walks through first transmission with patient remotely.
- Calls the program non-responders who have not completed the expected number of sessions weekly/monthly to determine if there is a technology problem or to encourage the patient to improve compliance.
- Discharges patients from the program for meeting goal or non-compliance in the vendor system.
- Orders retrieval kit to be sent to the patient's home for equipment return; responsible for home telehealth equipment inventory- ordering, replacement, or returned equipment.
- Educate staff and providers on the use of telehealth technologies and serving as a point of contact to answer questions and address concerns related to these technologies.
- Maintaining knowledge of and skill in applying an extensive body of rules, procedures, and operations in telehealth-related technologies and a variety of computer hardware and software used for telecommunications, data entry and retrieval, record maintenance, document and report generation.
- Maintaining regular contact with other staff members and the Facility Telehealth Coordinator to work out process issues, equipment needs, problems, data collection and any other logistical issues.
- Manages the DALC report and Care Coordinator panel numbers monthly; completes Encounter Action Required Report for all Home Telehealth clinics to assure all encounters are closed timely to receive vera reimbursement completing other duties as assigned.
