About the role

This position serves as the Health System Specialist (HSS) for the Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (GLAHS) by providing a full range of support functions assisting in the formulation and development of organizational facility plans and is involved in the analysis of demography of the Los Angeles area.

What you will do

  • Works with facility leadership to assure their input to business related projects.
  • Responsible for directing all planning activities within the facility and assisting in developing the annual strategic/operational plan, which outlines local goals, initiatives, and departmental activities.
  • Works closely with the Service Lines and Departments in the facility to obtain and consolidate planning information.

  • Performs special studies and develops reports, proposals, business plans, position and issue papers which represent the facility's position concerning a variety of managerial and technical issues including planning initiatives, development of new programs and sites of care.
  • Provides active and well-informed administrative participation in planning for the delivery of healthcare by taking the initiative to identify needs and potential issues/concerns and devising flexibilities in operations and constructive, cost- effective approaches to the resolution of problems.
  • Tracks and monitors a multitude of ongoing studies and projects, briefing senior executives on project status, interfacing with Health Care System leadership to ensure effective and seamless project integration.
  • Serves on variety of GLAHS committees and boards as appointed by the Director in varying capacities to include Co-chairperson, member, facilitator, or as a representative of the Strategic, Facility, and Master Planning.
  • Serves as a special resource person for subcommittees, task forces, and steering groups throughout GLAHS.
  • Work Schedule: Various tours of duty based on the needs of the service.

  • The incumbent will be subjected to stressful situations due to short timeframes for completion of assignments and potential and actual conflicts.
