This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel in the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Serves as Team Leader for ten or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work, within the Directorate of Public Works, Operations and Maintenance Division, Buildings and Grounds Branch. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required at time of appointment.

What you will do

  • Serves as Team Leader for ten or more employees in accomplishing trades and labor work.
  • Passes on to other workers instructions received from supervisor and starts work (e.g. by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led).
  • Ensures that needed plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available, and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
  • Sees to it that there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew busy.
  • Climb ladders, scaffolds, and work from platforms.
  • May work in cramped and awkward positions, reaches, bends, lifts while using tools, parts, and/or equipment.
  • Leads, coordinates, assigns, and reviews work of 10+ trades employees.
  • Ensures work methods, deadlines, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Provides on the spot guidance, demonstrations, and technical instruction.
  • Obtains materials, tools, and equipment to support work operations.
  • Monitors progress, resolves issues, and reports delays or training needs.
  • Works alongside crew performing journey-level tasks.
  • Ensures compliance with blueprints, specifications, and supervisory instructions.
  • Enforces safety, housekeeping, and equipment capacity rules.

Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest. This is an Installation Maintenance Career Field (CF) position.

The following special programs/incentives MAY be offered if it is appropriate to the position being filled and in the best interest of the government: Recruitment Incentives Relocation Incentives Student Loan Repayment Salary negotiations for those candidates who are new to Federal service may be authorized.

Credit for prior non-federal work experience and certain military service for determining annual leave accrual rate may be authorized.
