THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a GENERAL ENGINEER, Position Description Number T5904800 and is part of the 106TH RQW, National Guard. This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. Veteran's Preference does not apply due to this being a Professional Series position.

What you will do

• As a General Engineering, GS-0801-12, you will supervisory (less than 25%) and technical assistance to the Base Architect/Engineer in overseeing and managing the engineering shops and production control function.
• Provides technical support to all assigned sections.
• Provides guidance to these sections on standard and code requirements.Develops engineered solutions to technical problems, which are incapable of being resolved by subordinates.
• Typical problems require the need to perform extensive mathematical and technical calculations in engineering to include civil, mechanical, electrical, or general engineering as well as architecture.
• The incumbent provides subordinate guidance and team leadership to Dual Status and Title 5 employees.
• Incumbent performs planning development necessary to accomplish architecture and engineering functions for programs essential to state Air National Guard daily operations, training, and readiness missions.
• Fosters an environment conducive to teaming among service providers and customers to meet state Air National Guard requirements.

• Applicants claiming Priority Placement Program, DoD MR and NG Preference Eligible Tech Receiving Disability Retirement must submit the following documentation: - Military Reserve and Technician Disability PPP Self Certification Checklist (DD 3145-2) - Termination SF-50 Separation stating that the applicant has Priority Placement Eligibility - Notice of Separation confirming of eligibility.
• Applicant claiming Priority Placement Program, DoD Retained Grade Employees must submit the following documentation: -DoD Retained Grade Self Certification Checklist (DD 3145-1) - SF-50 effecting the placement in retained grade status - Copy of the notification letter the employee received (RIF or classification downgrade) Applicants claiming Priority Placement Program, Military Spouse Preference must submit the following documentation: - DoD Military Spouse Preference Self Certification Checklist (DD 3145-4) - Sponsor's PCS Orders - Proof of Military member's current active duty status - Marriage Certificate

What to expect next

Superior Qualifications Appointment (Advanced Step Placement): In accordance with agency pay-setting policy, the hiring official may request advanced step placement for highly qualified candidates of federal GS positions.

Eligibility: To qualify, the candidate must be a newly-appointed General Schedule (GS) employee (defined as receiving their first appointment as a civilian employee of the Federal Government, or a former federal employee being reappointed after a break in service of at least 90 days).

The hiring official must formally document and demonstrate that the candidate possesses: Superior Qualifications: The level, type, or quality of the candidate's skills, competencies, accomplishments, education, or experience is significantly higher than what is minimally required for the position; OR Special Agency Need: The candidate possesses skills and competencies that are essential to accomplishing a critical, high-priority agency mission, goal, or program.
