About the role
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Firefighter (BLS) located at Fort Myer, VA.

What you will do
- Serve as a Firefighter Driver/Operator/Hazardous Materials Technician/Basic Life Support.
- Assigned to a crew engaged in structural firefighting, rescue, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) incident response functions.
- Drives and operates firefighting/rescue vehicles, participates in rescue operations to include confined space, high-angle, and other special operations.
- Performs noninvasive emergency medical procedures to provide Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Maintains ambulance equipment such as backboards, suction devices, monitors, oxygen delivery systems and orders supplies as needed.
- Performs fire protection/prevention inspections.
- Performs maintenance, operational, housekeeping, emergency and stand by duties as necessary.

- DoD Certificates and NREMT License : You MUST submit a copy of the following: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness, Hazardous Materials Operations, Driver Operator Pumper certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) AND a State or National Registry EMT License .
