About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: As an Engineering Tech (Drafting), GS-0802-7/8/9, you will develop and maintain CADD drawings/as-builts, manage document storage systems, conduct GPS/Total Station surveys, plot data to generate 3D terrain models, and monitor geotechnical instrumentation for dams and civil works.

What you will do

• Develops, updates, and maintains mechanical, electrical, and civil CADD/MicroStation drawings from on-site inspections, rough sketches, and redlines.
• Research, recreates, and updates historical and as-built project drawings; performs field verifications to reconcile discrepancies with physical structures.
• Conducts topographic, boundary, and dam-monitoring surveys using GPS and Total Station equipment; processes field data to create accurate maps, 3D Terrain Models, and drawings.
• Maintains and organizes paper and electronic files into databases for drawings, specifications, and other technical data.
• Collects readings on geotechnical and structural instrumentation to monitor the stability and performance of dams, levees, and hydraulic structures.
• Collects, analyzes, and formats field data and water measurements into electronic reports to support engineering evaluations and project design modifications.

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest. Eligible for situational telework only, including emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework". Management may select at any of the grade levels advertised.

Non-competitive promotion potential to the intervening grade of GS-08 and the target grade of GS-09. The following incentives may be authorized: Advanced In-hire, Relocation Incentive, Recruitment Incentive and/or Advanced Leave Accrual.
