What you will do
- Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to week or month-to-month basis.
- Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by the supervisor.
- Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
- Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
- Redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work.
- Informs the supervisor of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimate labor and other resources.
- Participates with the supervisor in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
- (2) Work Direction: Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.
- Implements corrective actions within their authority to resolve work problems.
- Recommends solutions to staffing problems, engineering requirements, and work operations directed by other supervisors.
- (3) Administration: Plans and establishes overall leave schedules.
- Determines training needs of subordinates and arranges for accomplishment.
- Sets performance standards, and makes formal appraisals of subordinate work performance.
- Initiates recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates.
- (4) Performs the non-supervisory work of the function as needed.
- (5) Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
- (6) Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises.
- May be required to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

Requirements
- CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Minnesota National Guard Membership is required.
- Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
- Most MNNG position are covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
- An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
- Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
- Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
- MILITARY COMPATIBILITY: Upon selection, individuals will undergo a background check to validate suitability for employment with the federal government as permitted by law, regulation, Presidential order or other authority.
- Suitability is dependent upon the particular requirements for security clearance, sensitivity level, and DOD IT network access.
- Items checked include, but are not limited to all criminal history record information, employment history, education and fiscal accountability/responsibility.
- The individual selected must be assigned to a compatible military position and must also maintain satisfactory membership in the Minnesota Army National Guard.

How you will be evaluated
AREAS OF PRIORITY: In Accordance with MN National Guard Regulation 690-335 (Army) or 36-1 (Air), Applications will be forwarded to the selection official to conduct reviews by area of priority as listed below Area 1: Current On-board Minnesota National Guard Title 32 Technicians who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired within that National Guard component applying for a position within the component which they are currently employed.
Area 2: Current Minnesota National Guard Title 32 Technicians who are in permanent or indefinite technician status as a result of being competitively hired at a sister component that is identified on the Position Vacancy Announcement (PVA), including onboard Title 5 employees that are also current members of MNNG; i.e. Army MNNG to Air MNNG, Air MNNG to Army MNNG.
Evaluation Factors: Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of appropriate education, experience, training, self-development activities, and special awards. Candidates are considered on the basis of available information on their current application and supporting information that has been provided to this office.

National Guard military (Part-time) service is considered as full-time experience when evaluated against the qualification requirements for a technician position.
