The Regional Office Director leads a Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) Regional Office, overseeing all benefits and services for Veterans, their families, and survivors.

They set strategic direction, ensure effective program execution, improve performance, promote accountability and integrity, align operations with national priorities, manage resources wisely, encourage inclusivity, and build partnerships to support the VA's mission.

What you will do

  • The Director leads all aspects of the VA Regional Office's operations and programs to ensure timely, accurate, and Veteran-centered delivery of benefits and services.
  • Core responsibilities include: Establishing policies and procedures that align Regional Office operations with VBA and VA requirements.
  • Directing subordinate managers in resolving operational challenges and ensuring effective service delivery.
  • Monitoring program performance and implementing corrective actions to improve outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Developing organizational plans and determining resource needs to accomplish short- and long-term mission objectives.
  • Allocating and managing resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to support efficient operations.
  • Overseeing human capital programs, including staffing, workforce development, performance management, and grievance resolution.
  • Providing executive oversight of VBA business lines and ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery of benefits and services.
  • Representing the Regional Office with Veterans, community stakeholders, government partners, and interagency committees.
  • Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday Compressed/Flexible: Not Available Telework: This position is eligible for situational (ad hoc) telework only.
  • The selectee is required to report to the official duty station each scheduled workday.
  • Telework may be approved only on a case-by-case basis with supervisory approval.
  • Routine or recurring telework is not authorized for this position.
  • Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
  • Position Description/PD#: Director/37956A Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Relocation expenses and services (Permanent Change of Station - PCS) are authorized.
  • PCS covers the relocation of a household for government convenience when transferring between duty stations.
  • By accepting PCS, the selectee agrees to remain in Federal service for 12 months after the move.
  • Failure to complete the service period may require repayment of PCS expenses.

  • A three year (3-yr) service agreement is required.** A relocation incentive may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate.
  • Before payment, the selectee must sign a service agreement to complete 3 years of employment after physically relocating and establishing a residence in Wichita, KS.
  • The incentive may be paid as a lump sum or installments.
  • Financial Disclosure Report: Required; This position requires completion of a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE-450) under 5 C.F.R. § 2634.904(a).
  • The selectee must submit the form before entering on duty and annually thereafter.

  • Upon completion of your probationary period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
