About the role
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for STEM Positions, Cyber Security& Related Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a Data Scientist GS-1560-14 located at Fort Bragg, NC.
What you will do
- Conduct code reviews using established software development standards to verify code quality.
- Develop predictive and inferential models using Python libraries (such as Scikit-learn or TensorFlow) to resolve operational challenges.
- Integrate analytical model outputs into operational systems using Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
- Instruct team members in machine learning best practices to increase team proficiency.
- Manage analytical environments using the Linux command-line interface (CLI) and Bash scripting to ensure process automation.
- Translate complex analytical findings into executive-level written reports to inform strategic leadership decisions.
- Build interactive dashboards using Power BI to provide senior leaders with operational metrics.
- Execute data analytics upskilling programs across the command to increase workforce technical proficiency.

Student Loan Repayment, Relocation Incentive, Recruitment Incentive, Advanced in Hire may be authorized and Annual Leave Accrual Rate may be authorized. Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 2 YEARS. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years.
With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a TERM appointment will be appointed/converted into a TERM appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
