About the role
This position is located in fitness facilities operated and administered by Fleet & Family Readiness Division, Command Navy Region Northwest. Incumbent will function as a Custodial Worker, performing a full range of janitorial/custodial duties to maintain clean, safe buildings and grounds.
What you will do
- Responsible for maintaining the Fitness area, including The Commons and surrounding area.
- Vacuum cleans rugs and draperies; shampoos rungs and up holster; Sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors using light to heavy industrial-type equipment, adjusting and changing buffers, brushes and other attachments as needed.
- Dusts, waxes and polishes office furniture, dusts ledges and woodwork; empties cigarette disposal cans and waste baskets, disposing of trash and recycling waste appropriately.
- The incumbent cleans glass partitions, inside and outside windows, walls and ceiling fixtures using ladders and scaffolds.
- May be required to move and set up tables, chairs and other equipment as required for events.
- Maintains restrooms in clean, orderly and sanitary condition - cleans, disinfects and deodorizes lavatories, sinks and toilet bowls, replaces deodorizers, toilet tissue, hand towels and soap.
- Cleans mirrors and water fountains and performs light maintenance such as changing light bulbs.
- Maintains an adequate supply of cleaning materials and advises supervisor when more are needed or when equipment needs repair or replacement.
- Police outside buildings within ten (10) feet or any areas needing cleaned.
- Will perform other related duties as assigned, including occasional laborer tasks such as applying ice control material, shoveling snow, light mowing and watering lawns around assigned buildings and facilities.
Requirements
- Successful completion of National Agency Background (NACI) Check required.
- This position involves work on workdays and may involve weekends, and holidays, as well as rotating shifts.
- Physical exertion is involved in standing and walking for long periods, some bending, stooping and lifting is required.
- Must have ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor as unassisted lifting, moving and carrying of supplies and equipment weighting up to 50 pounds is required.
