About the role

About the Position: The position is located within Madigan Army Medical Center, Department of Mental Health. The primary work location is at the Child & Family Mental Health Services (CAFMHS) clinic. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

  • Perform biopsychological tests for the purpose of assessing patient’s cognitive, mental, educational, and emotional functioning.
  • Provide advice for case staffing, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to the psychological counseling of children, adolescents, and family members.
  • Perform a wide variety of quality management/quality assurance (QM/QA) duties to meet HIPPA and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JC) requirements.
  • Provide expert professional consultation to primary care providers and other professional staff regarding the psychological functioning of children, adolescents, and families.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate professional development activities, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to clinical child adolescent psychology.

An initial cut-off date 7/30/2026 will be used to begin applicant consideration. Eligible applications received after the cutoff date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies become available. Position is filled as a Term Appointment NTE 5 Years.

Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Position cannot be made permanent.

Current permanent Federal employees applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.

Advance in Hire may be authorized. This is available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This position requires a 1 year trial period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.

In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.

Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized for highly qualified candidates. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.

Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
