About the role

Join the Division of Administrative Services, Nutrition and Dietetics Branch in Shiprock, NM, where you'll provide friendly customer service, support daily cafeteria operations, and help ensure quality dining services for our community. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

What you will do

• Operates the cash register and credit card machine to process customer payments.
• Provides customer service and answers basic questions about the cafeteria.
• Counts, secures, and reconciles cash and daily sales.
• Checks meal tickets and reports payment discrepancies.
• Restocks food, drinks, condiments, utensils, and other supplies.
• Maintains cleanliness and assists with opening and closing the cafeteria.

Requirements

• Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment.

Additional information

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service.

This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. This position is covered by a Bargaining Unit. This position has no promotion potential Prior to the appointment, candidates must present two valid forms of identification.
