About the role

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base Facilities and Major Range and Test Facilities Base, NDAA 1125 (a) and (c) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Position may be filled at any grade level WG-6, 7, or 8.

If developmental, completion of performance & training requirements selectee may be promoted to the target WG-08. Blocker/Bracer and Truck Driver.

What you will do

• Position items and containers in boxcars, gondolas, flatcars, and truck trailers according to the capacity of the carrier and configuration and weight of the shipment.
• Block and brace a variety of equipment and general supply items on commercial and military carriers using blocks, braces, wedges and other staying devices, as well as wire cables, and chains.
• As a motor vehicle operator / truck driver, operate a gasoline or diesel-powered truck tractor with semi-trailer, Strad-O-Lift trailer, or van to haul a wide variety of high explosives, munitions and components.
• Assure the load does not exceed vehicle capacity, and that items are considered safe for movement and transfer.
• Assemble, install, and repair a variety of standard and non-standard wooden articles used in storing, renovating, and transporting ammunition.
• Set up, adjust, and use portable circular saws (radial arms) and impact wrenched compressors, generators, and a variety of hand tools.
• Store, stack, and palletize items.
• Determine proper storage/destination location from instructions received.
• Assemble items for movement, and select items for issue or movement.
• Operate an electric or gasoline-powered fork lift, capable of lifting up to 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches.
