About the role

The Employment Law Unit in the FBI's Office of General Counsel provides legal guidance and represents the FBI in personnel-related litigation matters. This posting is for an attorney position embedded in the FBI's Security Division.

The incumbent will provide legal advice to FBI supervisors and executives on a variety of security related matters, including, but not limited to, security investigations, security clearance denials, suspensions, and revocations.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills are preferred, as well as significant experience in briefing supervisors and executives, analyzing complex issues, and creative problem solving.
  • The incumbent will also represent the FBI and defend its decisions on appeal before the Department of Justice Access Review Committee.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Selectee may be required to complete form FD-887, Request for Access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • Selectee may be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450 annually.
  • Please be advised that candidates that are selected for this position must be approved by the Department of Justice.

Education

BASIC REQUIREMENT: All applicants must possess a law degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and be an active member of the bar (any US jurisdiction).

Positive Education Requirement: This position has a specific education requirement; all applicants must verify completion of this basic requirement by submitting both proof of JD degree and proof of good standing with a bar within a US jurisdiction.
