THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0734000 and is part of the IL AASF 3, National Guard.

What you will do

• As a AIRCRAFT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-8852-10, you will supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated nonsupervisory work.
• Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Assign tasks to be performed.
• Instruct subordinates on new procedures or methods and provide assistance on difficult or new problem areas.
• Review work in progress or on completion.
• Plan weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations.
• Establish deadlines and priorities based on established general schedules, methods and policies.
• Determine skills, materials and equipment required to do the work.
• Recommend and participate in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies.
• Schedule and approve leave of subordinates.
• Set performance requirements and make formal and informal performance appraisals.
• Determine training needs of subordinates and arrange for its accomplishment.
• Implement regulatory safety requirements and ensure that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
• Perform such additional duties as structural firefighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

Requirements

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement.

• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
• An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
• Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. No substitution of education for experience is permitted for this occupational series and grade.

What to expect next
