About the role

This is a Title 32 dual status position (Texas Air National Guard membership is required) It is located in the 136th Airlift Wing in Fort Worth, TX. Its purpose is to serve as the Aircraft Maintenance Manager for the Maintenance Squadron, with responsibility for directing and managing the Squadron. Texas is one of 9 states with NO state income tax.

What you will do

  • Plans, organizes, and oversees the activities of the organization.
  • Collaborates with the Group Commander and other base organizations to plan, develop and implement numerous long term plans.
  • Through subordinate functional supervisors, directs and supervises staff and production functions affecting very complex high performance aircraft with a wide variety of high cost, sophisticated systems, controlling approximately two thirds of base dollars.
  • Determines goals and objectives for the squadron.
  • Reviews, accepts, amends or rejects work which has been accomplished by subordinate supervisors and organizations.
  • Plans, organizes, schedules, controls, and directs unit aircraft maintenance resources to meet mission requirements.
  • Plans, schedules controls and directs the use of all resources to ensure timely, effective and complete support of mission requirements.
  • Plans and institutes fiscal controls to ensure compliance with federal law and higher headquaters directives.
  • Coordinates with appropriate groups in the wing to ensure an integrated approach to the solution of problems relating to availability of aircraft and ability to conduct the military mission.
  • Represents and speaks for Group Commander with representatives of the National Guard Bureau, the Adjutant General USP&FO, other military components, state/local governments, business and other public/private groups or organizations and persons having an interest in the programs of the wing/group.
  • Maintains surveillance and ensures effective operation of the maintenance program.
  • Develops CONUS and OCONUS deployment plans to meet unit mission goals, inspection schedules, and deployment requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas Air National Guard and wear of the military uniform.
  • Areas of Consideration: Nationwide Excepted.
  • This includes: All currently employed full-time permanent, indefinite and temporary personnel of the Texas National Guard.
  • All current members of the Texas National Guard and individuals eligible for membership in the Texas Air National Guard Incentives: Acceptance of a military Federal technician position may result in termination and / or repayment of military incentives.

  • Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS.
  • AFSC: Any 21AX Rank Spread: Promotable Maj (O-4) not to exceed Lt Col (O-5)

Education

Basic Requirements: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with a knowledge of equipment maintenance work, or skill in reading engineering drawings and specifications, using test instruments, making computations, and keeping records. Experience using computer and automation systems.

Drug Testing Required. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Ammendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with the coworkers and customers, contributing to the cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of normal duty day.

This position requires the incumbent to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station. The incumbent must be willing and able to travel on military commercial aircraft. Incumbent is required to maintain qualifications and / or certifications of position assigned.

The duties and responsibilities of your job may significantly impact the environment. Position does not require the piloting or instructing of military aircraft.
