About the role

The mission of the Department of Energy (DOE) is to ensure America's security and prosperity by addressing its energy, environmental, and nuclear challenges through transformative science and technology solutions. Applications will be used to fill positions by the hiring officials at DOE Human Capital Shared Service Center (Headquarters and their associated field offices).

Some series do have positive education requirements that must be met. Please review the series listed above in the "duties" section which provides a link to the qualifications standards for each series and will advise if there is an education requirement.

If there is a basic education requirement that must be met failure to provide copies of your college transcripts may result in a rating of "Ineligible". If substituting education for specialized experience, you must submit proof of your qualifying education.

How you will be evaluated

To determine if you are qualified for particular positions, a review of your resume and supporting documentation will be made. As hiring officials look to fill positions using the 30% Disabled Veteran hiring authority, they may be provided applicant information kept in this file based on the qualifications for the position being filled.

These qualifications will be based on the position as well as the information contained in the resume provided by the applicant and verification of eligibility. Pay will be determined based on the duty location of the position; remote employees will receive the locality rate associated with the location of their remote worksite, typically the employee's place of residence. Supervisory positions may require a 1-year probationary period, if not yet completed. This position may be identified as potentially meeting the requirements of Schedule Policy/Career. If it is determined that the position does meet the requirement, the position will be converted from the competitive service to an excepted service position.

Any employee occupying the position at that time will also be converted (moved) from the competitive service to the excepted service with limited appeal rights.
